PENGUINS AT SAN FRANCISCO INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF SHORT FILMS
Sep 06, 2010

Fabrica participates to San Francisco International Festival of Short Films with “Penguins”, the first music video on Clarity Kaufmann's debut album "Careless”, co-directed by Hanna Abi-Hanna and Maia Ruth Lee and produced by Fabrica.

The music video is a mixture of real images and delicate animations. It follows the fantasy world of creatures sharing an apartment with a lonely girl.

San Francisco Shorts is about grabbing someone by the eyeballs and making them think, feel and react. It’s about what people see every day but now stare at in wonder.
SF Shorts proves that entertainment can have human value.
The festival is organized in 7 Programs of Mixed-Genre Shorts, over half from outside the U.S., representing 20 countries.
“Penguins” is included in the Mix 3 , titled “Ties That Bind”, a mixed-genre program focusing on human connections made, broken, and mended.

Screening at Red Vic Moviehouse 1727 Haight Street; San Francisco, CA 94117
On September 10th, 2010 at 7:30pm.

EVERYTHING IN ITS PLACE BROADCAST ON SBS ONE TV AUSTRALIA
Sep 01, 2010

"Everything in its place" the short documentary realized by Fabrica about the Guinness-award-winning Italian collector Alessandro Benedetti, will be broadcast on Sunday September 5th, at 11.25 pm on SBS-TV, Australia.

Alessandro Benedetti owns thousands of vinyl records from artists such as Pink Floyd, Queen, the Beatles, Prince, Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, Bon Jovi and many others. This video gives an insight into rare and valuable vinyl records which run the gamut from gold, transparent or painted to those shaped like a map, butterfly, heart, star, or even a tree! This amazing collection brought to the realization of the book called Colors Extraordinary Records, realized by Colors and TASCHEN.

The video belongs to the "Unique Trades" collection, a set of documentaries depicting obsessions and trades on the fringe of existence. These intimate portraits capture committed individuals, striving undeterred in their obsolete worlds. Unique Trades are produced by Fabrica and directed by the british Fabrica resident Alex Healey.

WITHIN THE VENICE ARCHITECTURE BIENNALE - FABRICA PRESENTS SHIFTING PERSPECTIVE
Aug 02, 2010

Within the Venice Architecture Biennal
Fabrica presents
SHIFTING PERSPECTIVE

From the 21st of August to the 21st of November 2010 Fabrica, the Benetton group’s communication research center, will present its latest collections of objects for the house at the Guadagni Showroom in Venice.

Down Side Up is an encounter between experimentation and consumption, where design challenges shapes, volume perception and directions to create objects with constantly varying functions and interpretations. And so by adding a few essential accessories like legs, handles, hooks or hands, and by choosing a precise orientation, a simple basic wood unit is transformed into something new with a unique personality. The heart of each unit is a hole, a functional element which also gives the unit an aesthetic value. Therefore the effectiveness of each article lies in its versatility of use and its potential for creating customised modular systems.

The Riot Act is a collection of 12 decorative articles. The collection takes its name from the 1713 Act of the British Parliament which gave local authorities the right to order the dispersal of groups of 12 or more people deemed unlawfully assembled. Each of the 12 designers from Fabrica was given a ceramic cylinder to transform it in form and function through modifications, processes or additions of new elements.

Both the collections will be available for purchase at the Guadagni Showroom.
